Example Morph Project

Image A
Original Image:
Image size: 512x384 pixels
Color Depth: 24 bits/pixel

Image B
Original Image:
Image size: 512x384 pixels
Color Depth: 24 bits/pixel

First, the images were brought into Photoshop and resized so that the worm in each image was approximately the same length. Image B was cleaned up and cropped so that each image had a the same size background. They were then pasted into 512x384 black background so that they would be the proper size for making the final video. Image A was originally blue, but it was changed to brown to make a visually smoother transition.

The next step was to bring the images into Elastic Reality and begin defining shapes. Following are screen shots of each image and its corresponding shapes:

Image A shapes

Image B shapes

The interesting parts of this morph are in fact that Image B has more legs than Image A and that Image B has antennae and Image A does not. Legs and antennae needed to appear to grow out of Image A. Here is a screen shot of the correspondence lines that were used to create the appearance of a leg growing out of the body of Image A:

Leg Correspondence Lines

Image A shapes are displayed in blue and Image B shapes red.

Following is a screen shot of the correspondence lines that were used to create the appearance of antennae growing out of the head of Image A. The bottom antennae shows the correspondence lines. However, it is difficult to see the shapes, so I outlined the shapes of the top antennae in green.

Antennae Correspondence Lines

As before, Image A shapes are blue and Image B shapes red.
